Fundraiser {Movie Night}

We have received a lot of support from my husband’s co-workers so we wanted to do something that would specifically include them. He works for Chick-Fil-a so most of the group is younger- we thought a movie night with snacks and mocktails would be perfect. It was a fun event and super easy to put together so we’ll definitely be doing another one in the future. We decided to watch The Avengers (because it’s awesome) and Despicable Me (also awesome but included adoption in it’s theme). We’ll select a different set of movies for next time, although some TV shows have been thrown into the conversation so The Big Bang Theory might be the people’s choice.

For the movie end of the prep work, we borrowed a projector from our church and hung a large table cloth from our entertainment center, threw out some bean bags and called it good for the living room. I mean, what’s the point in decorating when it’s going to be dark and people are watching a movie? So the focus was all on the snack table. Because that’s really what’s important in life really.

For the rest set-up, after seeing what all we did you might be wondering where I have found all this free time with a new job, getting the adoption paperwork together, and just having had a garage sale the two days before… I had help so don’t be too hard on yourself.  A friend of mine is starting an event planning business and was a crucial part of conceiving this event and putting it together, so all props to her. I will say however, she was super excited that I had a selection of glass and serving ware. This apparently is rare- finally all that shopping came in handy :). I think she only had to contribute the large vase in the middle and the shakers as far as containers go. I did get to make the signs, which the digital templates can now be purchased here. (If you’d like a different color, added text, or ones that are pre-made, just let me know and we can work it out).

My friend Brittany at Dainty Dahlia‘s helped with the decor and concept of the night!

We just popped a bunch of plain popcorn and offered some seasoning for people to choose from- or use all three 🙂

My friend found these perfect popcorn containers. They were just the right size and looked great on the table!

    I might have just missed it, but where was the fundraising part? Did they pay to come or did you just do donations? Sorry, if I just misread it!

    1. Hey Sallie! We suggested a $10 donation per adult so that we new we covered the basic food costs. Legally you can’t charge for showing the movie. 🙂

    How did you get the barcode thing on the invite?

    1. You can google search for a free QR code generator and it’s pretty easy. You just plug in the URL you want it to go to and it does it 🙂
